Family Hike Series

And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another.     - Hebrews 10:24-25

Welcome to our Family Hike series!

Our Family Hikes are aimed at getting you and your family outside, enjoying central Ohio's wonderful trails. We want to help encourage you to meet together as a family and train for our hikes by taking family walks and hikes together in between the monthly hikes.

How much does it cost to participate?

Our Family Hikes are free to attend but you MUST register in advanced so we know how many people to expect.

Where and when will the hikes take place?

We will aim to have 1 hike a month in the central Ohio area. Our hikes will generally be within 45 minutes of Columbus. They will vary on the weekend they will take place and the day (Friday - Sunday). Times will also vary so we can experience different types of hikes. We will try to announce our hikes 1 month in advanced. Besides September, because I'm not that organized.

What type of terrain can I expect?

Our goal is to get you out of the norm. Our hikes will take place on more technical trails then you are used to. All of our hikes will be all age appropriate, but not wheelchair, handicap, or stroller accessible. Please email us if you have any questions about terrain.

We will be providing:

We will be providing water for before and after the hike. You MUST bring your own container to carry your water.

We will be providing a hot food item after our hikes. Think chili or soup or hot dogs, etc. Our food item will be posted 2 days before the hike.

We will be providing a map and typed up directions for the hike. Hikes that take place on non mapped courses will be marked with signs.

We will be asking for others to bring items to share as well! Sides like chips or veggies, desserts like fruit and cookies, or anything else you enjoy making that doesn't need to be kept hot (unless you have a wonderbag, cause those things are amazing)

This is optional and we hope we get lots of people to periodically bring an item! You will be asked through registration if you are able to bring an item.

We will have a Family Hike passport!

Bring your passport to each hike and we will have small give-a-ways with the more hikes you participate in!

Do I have to have kids to hike?

Nope! Come alone, come with a friend, come however you want! Family means something different to everyone. However our hikes are very child friendly in their nature. We will be encouraging people to invite their family and others to join them on their hikes, but would love for you to come and meet others that may be in your walk of life as well to participate in these hikes and your training hikes as well.

What is your weather cancellation policy?

All of our hikes are all weather hikes. We would only cancel if there is active dangerous weather happening DURING the hours of the hike. We want to encourage you to explore all the weather that Ohio has to offer!

I noticed you have a donation option on the registration. What's this for?

Here at Brokemans, we want to keep things as affordable as possible! But the reality is that E.V.E.R.Y.T.H.I.N.G. costs money in business. If you love what we're doing and want to help support us in our mission, then please consider a donation.

More details developing as we go.

September Family Hike

September 23rd 10a-12p
Clear Creek Metro Park
~3 mi

There will be roughly 3 miles (I will get an exact distance soon). Terrain is described as moderate to difficult due to technical elements (roots, rocks, etc) and elevation. I have personally hiked this trail many times with my young children. I believe anyone who is healthy and not injured can complete this hike. It is not wheelchair or stroller accessible. Pets are NOT allowed on this trail.

Please register EVERY person that will be attending our hike and their age.
